Tomahawks vs. Northeast Generals Series Preview (12/31-1/1)

Christmas break is over, and you know what that means? The Tomahawks are back! 2022 is just right around the corner, and the Tomahawks are back at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA with their annual New Years Eve and New Years Day games. This year they welcome in the Northeast Generals once again for the two-gamer.

Game One Puck Drop: 6 p.m. | Game Two Puck Drop: 7 p.m.

Northeast comes into this series after splitting a two game series on the road against the Jamestown Rebels. They were shutout in game one 4-0, responding the following night in game two with a 2-1 win. Forward Kyle Schroeder scored both goals, and goaltender Oliver Drum stopped 34/35, earning the win.

Johnstown comes into this series after splitting a two-gamer on the road against the Maryland Black Bears. A high scoring game to kick the series off, but Maryland came out on top with the 6-4 win. Sean Kilcullen (D), Luke Van Why (D), Ryan Bottrill (F), and Brad McNeil (F) all tallied two assists for the Black Bears. Zachary Stoner did the same for the Hawks.


The Tomahawks then responded the following night, leading them into the Christmas holiday with a 5-2 win over Maryland, splitting the series between the two teams. Ryan Velluci (F), Dusty Geregach (D), and Jake Black (F) all tallied two assists. Sam Evola stopped 32/34, earning him the win between the pipes.

Last week, the NAHL released it’s Week of December 20, 2021 edition of Bauer's Stars of the Week. Tomahawks defensemen Zachary Stoner was awarded as East Division’s 2nd Star, while forward Jacob Badal was honored as an Honorable Mention.

Last weekend, Stoner put up three points in the Hawks two-gamer against Maryland. Tallying two assists in game one, and scoring a goal in game two. Badal put up a two point weekend against Maryland. Scoring a goal and tallying an assist in game two.


Congratulations to Tomahawks defensemen Dusty Geregach, who last week announced his commitment to play NCAA DI hockey at Mercyhurst University. The 6’ McKees Rocks native is on his way to Erie after returning to Johnstown in his final year of junior hockey eligibility. The right handed shooting alternate captain this season has put up five goals and 14 assists in 28 games. Adding to his goal and 16 assists from the year before.
