Written by: David Nicoletti

After being swept on home ice in what was an emotional two-game series this past weekend, the Johnstown Tomahawks are looking to bounce back into the win column for this weekend's set of games. This Friday and Saturday, the Hawks will travel to Piney Orchard Ice Arena in Odenton, Maryland for a two-gamer against the Maryland Black Bears.

Game One Puck Drop: 7:30 p.m. | Game Two Puck Drop: 7 p.m.

The Black Bears come into this series after sweeping the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks on the road this past weekend. Game one ended up being a close contest from start to finish, as Maryland took home the 5-4 win over Danbury. Forward Branden Piku walked away with a goal and two assists. While forwards Ryan Bottrill and Dimitry Kebreau tallied two assists. Michigan State DI commit Luca Di Pasquo stopped 23/27 to earn the win between the pipes.

Game two saw a much different result, as Johnstown clinged to a 3-0 lead midway through the first. But it wouldn’t stop New Jersey from scoring four unanswered goals to make it 4-3 halfway through regulation. The Tomahawks scored two to retake the lead, but New Jersey responded with two of its own. The Titans took the game at a final score of 6-5, sweeping the Tomahawks at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for the second time this season.

New Jersey forward Brandon Avezov tallied two assists. Goaltender Andrew Takacs finished the weekend by earning two wins in net. Earning weekend totals of stopping 45/51 shots, a GAA of 3.00, and a SV% of 0.878
