Tomahawks vs. Maine Nordiques - Series Preview (2/11-2/12)



Guess who just got back today!? That's right, the Tomahawks are back and prepared to kick off a seven-game homestretch at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA! After being on the road for three straight weeks, the Maine Nordiques will now roll into Johnstown to battle the Hawks in a two-game series.


Game One Puck Drop: 7:30 p.m. | Game Two Puck Drop: 7 p.m.


The last time the Nordiques took the ice was back on January 28th-29th. Where they faced off against the Jamestown Rebels in Jamestown, New York for a two-game series. They'd lose game one 3-2 in overtime, but respond the following night with a 6-3 win over the Rebels. Giving Maine three out of four points, as well as the series split. Forward Zion Green took home two goals, while goaltender Gus Holt recorded the win by stopping 35/38.

Johnstown comes into this series after facing the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks last weekend with a set of afternoon games. In which, they won both and swept and Jr. Hat Tricks.


Game one saw the Tomahawks take home a 7-2 win over Danbury. David Matousek (F) recorded five points (2G, 3A), while captain Holt Oliphant (F) scored two goals. Matthew O'Donnell recorded the win, as he stopped a total of 26/28.


GAME ONE STATS


Game two the next day saw Johnstown walk out of Danbury with a 4-2 win, as well as the series sweep. Matousek recorded a goal and an assist on six shots. While newly acquired goaltender Dominik Wasik got the job done by recording the win in his Tomahawks debut, stopping 26/28.

LEAGUE RECOGNITION:


Congratulations to Tomahawks forward David Matousek, who was named East Division Star of the Week on Monday by the NAHL. Matousek put up some big numbers during a two-gamer last weekend in Danbury, Connecticut. Taking home seven points in two games. Those being two goals and three assists in game one, and a goal and assist in game two. Improving the West Chester, PA natives numbers to 26 points (10G, 16A) in 38 games on the year.


Also a congrats to Tomahawks forward captain Holt Oliphant on being named as an Honorable Mention for his three point performance last weekend. The Air Force commit put up a two goal game in game one, and tallied one assist in game two.
