Tomahawks Defeat Black Bears in Single Game of Weekend

Written by: David Nicoletti

The Tomahawks this past Saturday would host the Maryland Black Bears at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for a 7pm one game tilt. A reschedule contest from December 12th, 2020.

The first period would see Maryland on the board first, as forward Daniel Colabufo would score his eighth of the year on the power-play. Brendan Piku and Dylan Finlay would get the assists off of the goal.

It wouldn’t stop the Tomahawks minutes later from scoring a power-play goal of their own to make it a 1-1 game after 20 minutes. Daniel Tkac would get his 11th of the season, with John Gelatt and Holt Oliphant on the assists.

After a scoreless second period, Reed Stark would get the Tomahawks on the board again 29 seconds into the third period, scoring a goal yet again on the power-play. Will Margel and John Gelatt would get the assists.

Jay Ahearn would add another one moments later on the breakaway to make it a 3-1 Tomahawks game. Stark would get the lone assist.

The rest of the way, like most of the night, would see some physicality, and a bit of some old time hockey as a fight would take place between Johnstown’s Max Neill, and Maryland’s Jack Hillman. Other players would get into it, as 10 minute misconduct and roughing calls would be made from here to there.

But in the end, Matt McQuade would score the Hawks fourth goal, and Johnstown would take the game at a final score of 4-1. Liam Whitehouse and Daniel Tkac would get the assists, as final shots on goal would be 31-23 for Johnstown.

Winner: Josh Graziano - 22/23

Loser: Michael Morelli - 27/31

1st - Reed Stark (one goal, one assist)

2nd - John Gelatt (two assists)
