Johnstown Tomahawks vs. Maryland Black Bears - Series Preview (2/24-2/26)



Johnstown is back at it again at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA this week. With three games coming up on the new series, 2nd place in the East will be up for grabs with the Maryland Black Bears rolling into town.


Game One Puck Drop: 7 p.m. | Game Two Puck Drop: 7:30 p.m. | Game Three Puck Drop: 7 p.m.


Maryland comes into this series after a two-gamer at home against the New Jersey Titans, in which the Black Bears were swept. New Jersey took game one at a final of 4-1. Followed by a 3-0 shutout victory in game two, with Titans goaltender Andrew Takacs stopping all 25 shots faced.

The Tomahawks come into this series after three games in four days against the Jamestown Rebels. The first two (Friday & Saturday) were held at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA. While the third was a makeup game played at Northwest Arena in Jamestown, New York.


Game one saw Johnstown take home a 3-1 win against Jamestown. With captain Holt Oliphant (F) scoring two goals, and goaltender Matthew O'Donnell stopping 20/21. Game two this time saw Jamestown taking home the win, as well as the series split, with a 7-3 win over the Tomahawks.

The makeup game Monday afternoon saw Johnstown respond from the past night. With Jamestown forward

Mitch Lafay scoring the opening goal in the first. After a scoreless second period, Johnstown answered back by scoring four goals on the Rebels. Coming back home and walking out of Jamestown with the 4-1 victory. O'Donnell (G) received the win again, stopping 26/27.

Tyler DesRochers (D) went on to put up four assists in two games for the Tomahawks during their Saturday home and Monday road match-ups against Jamestown.


Holt Oliphant (F) in three games verses the Rebels would light the lamp three times. Scoring two goals Friday night at home, and a goal on the road Monday afternoon.
