Hawks’ Tame Black Bears - Lead Series 1-0

The Johnstown Tomahawks and Maryland Black Bears kicked off game one of their five-game series in the first round of the division semi-finals Friday night.
An electric crowd packing the 1ST SUMMIT ARENA as the Hawks would get on the board first to kick off these playoffs. Daniel Tkac would score 1:35 into the contest. Assists would go to Will Margel and Brendan Clark.
Maryland would then tie it up minutes later at 1-1 as we were halfway through the first. Cam Gaudette would get the goal as Josh Nixon would tally the assist.
The Tomahawks would then respond and end the first 20 minutes scoring two unanswered goals, making it a 3-1 Johnstown game. Max Smolinski and Jay Ahearn (PP) would light the lamp for the Hawks. Ahearn and Clark would tally the assists.
Philip Törnqvist for Maryland would respond with a power-play goal of their own 57 seconds into the second, making it a now 3-2 game. Dylan Finlay would get the lone assist off the goal.
The Tomahawks would then go back up on the board to make it a 4-2 game. The goal would be scored by Reed Stark, assists would go to Gelatt and Webb.
Törnqvist would add his second of the game past halfway unassisted. Going into the final frame with the Hawks up 4-3.
Johnstown would get the lone tally in the third as they would take game one at a final score of 5-3. Ahearn would get his second with the assist going to Holt Oliphant.

Loser: Michael Morelli - 21/26 - 57:31
1st - Jay Ahearn
2nd - Brendan Clark
3rd - Daniel Tkac
These two teams will be back at it again for game two tomorrow at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA at 7 p.m.
