Hawks Look For Third Straight Weekend Sweep - Pilewicz Helps Raise Over Ten Million Dollars

The Tomahawks are back on the road for another weekend series. This time the Hawks will travel to Middletown Ice Arena to take on the New Jersey Titans for a two-game series. Puck drop is for Friday, February 26th at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, February 27th at 7 pm.

This weekend will host the seventh and eighth matchup between the two teams this season. So far, Johnstown leads the season series, with a record of 4-2-0-0 against the Titans. New Jersey this year against the Tomahawks, holds a record of 2-3-0-1.

The last time these two teams played were back on February 4th for a rescheduled game in New Jersey. It would be a back-and-forth contest for both sides, but New Jersey would steal the game with seconds remaining, walking away with a 6-5 win over Johnstown.

New Jersey comes into this series after splitting a two game series against the Northeast Generals last weekend on the 19th and 20th. Four unanswered goals between the first two periods would lead to New Jersey taking game one at a 6-1 final. But after a back-and-forth first two periods the following night, Northeast would go on to score two unanswered goals in the second to take a 4-3 win over the Titans.

The Tomahawks come into this series after sweeping the Maryland Black Bears on the road last weekend. Three unanswered goals between the second and third would lead Johnstown to a 5-3 game one win. Responding the following day after a physical contest against the Black Bears with a 2-1 win.

On February 18th, 2021, the Johnstown Tomahawks released defenseman Ryan Reid. Reid made his series debut with the Hawks on January 29th-31st versus the Northeast Generals. He took part in all three games and averages a plus two.


Congratulations to Tomahawks forward, Jay Ahearn, who has committed to playing Division I hockey at Niagara University in New York. So far in 2020-21, Ahearn in 25 games this season has 17 goals and 20 assists. He is currently sharing the top goal-scoring spot in the NAHL with line-mate John Gelatt, who also has 17 goals on the season with the Tomahawks. Congratulations Jay!!!


Former Tomahawks defenseman and current Penn State senior, Adam Pilewicz took part in last weekend's annual Penn State THON.

For those of you who may not know. THON is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Their mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness, and ensure funding for critical research—all in pursuit of a cure.

Their yearlong efforts culminate in a 46-hour dance marathon, and this year, Penn State THON 2021 has raised $10,638,078.62 for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital.
