First Look At The 2021-22 Johnstown Tomahawks (with links)

The 2021-22 and 10th season of Tomahawks hockey is just right around the corner. Shortly following the preseason sweep against the Jamestown Rebels on Friday, the Hawks released their first look of this year's roster on the team website. Today, we are going to give you an in depth look at this year's team. Introducing you to this year's Johnstown Tomahawks.
#1 Salvatore Evola | Goaltender
DOB: 04/24/2001 | Rochester, Michigan | 5’11” | 170 lbs
A third year league veteran and one of many returnees to this year's team. Evola comes into his second year with the Tomahawks after posting a 18-6-2 record, a 2.18 GAA, and a .924 SV%, along with three shutouts in 2020-21. Helping to lead his team to win the East Division for the second time in team history with his solid play in net. Now, the former Midwest Division Top Prospect of 2021 is back and hungry for more unfinished business here in Johnstown.
#2 Cédrick Théodore | Defensemen
DOB: 02/23/2001 | Rigard, Quebec | 6’0” | 210 lbs
The first year NAHL player comes to Johnstown in his final year of junior eligibility. The left handed shooter's last season of play was back during the 2019-20, as he would miss the entire 2020-21 campaign. He suited up for the West Island Shamrocks of the QJHL for 46 games. Going on to score two goals and tally 11 assists.
#4 David Wilcox | Defensemen
DOB: 08/13/2001 | Northbrook, Illinois | 6’1” | 170 lbs
Wilcox comes into the Tomahawks organization in his final year of junior eligibility in his first year in the NAHL. The right handed shot spent the 2020-21 season in the NCDC with the Northern Cyclones. Appearing in 27 games, scoring two goals and tallying four assists.
#6 Ethan Perrault | Defensemen
DOB: 01/26/2003 | Tipp City, Ohio | 6’3” | 190 lbs
From tender to 2021 fourth round pick, Ethan Perrault returns to the Hawks colors for 2021-22 after spending a three game stint with them the following season. Before coming to Johnstown, Perrault spent 2020-21 with the Ohio Blue Jackets 18U AAA. He put up four goals, 12 assists, in 60 games in the 18U AAA, and one assist in 14 games in the T1EHL 18U.
#10 Ryan Vellucci | Forward
DOB: 12/13/2002 | Northville, Michigan | 6’0” | 181 lbs
Vellucci is back in Johnstown after spending four games with the team in 2020-21, tallying two assists on the scoresheet. Before coming to Johnstown, the right handed shot would play in 58 games with Victory Honda 18U AAA, where he put up a total of 15 goals and 22 assists.
Mike Letizia will be serving in his eighth year as the team’s head coach. Dave Dunkleberger will serve in his first full year as the team’s assistant coach, as he was hired to that role early-mid season last year. Scouts for this year’s team include former Tomahawk players Mitch Hall (defensemen 2013-14), Casey Linkenheld (forward 2014-16), and Jordan Watt (forward 2012-14).
#12 Dustin Geregach | Defensemen
DOB: 11/14/2001 | McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania | 6’0” | 181 lbs
The 2021 East Division Top Prospect had a pretty solid run with the Tomahawks in 2020-21. He would go on to appear in 49 games with the Hawks. Scoring one goal, and tallying 16 assists, along with three assists in five playoff games in 2021. Now the right handed shot blue liner is back for 2021-22 and ready for more.
#14 Noah Wagner | Forward
DOB: 06/27/2002 | Winnipeg, Manitoba | 5’9” | 182 lbs
The Tomahawks fifth round draft pick enters his first year of playing in the NAHL. The lefty shooter would spend the 2020-21 season in the MJHL playing in five games for the Dauphin Kings, and two games for the Portage Terriers. He would score one goal in 2020-21, and it would be in a Kings uniform.
#15 Tyler McNeil | Forward
DOB: 04/11/2002 | Valencia, California | 5’9” | 161 lbs
The second round draft pick by the Hawks in 2021 is here for his first go around in the NAHL. The left handed shot spent his 2020-21 season with the Fresno Monsters of the USPHL Premier, and the Philadelphia Hockey Club of the NCDC. With Fresno, McNeil would put up nine goals and two assists in four games, as well as four goals in three playoff games. With Philadelphia, he put up five goals and nine assists in 25 games, as well as a goal in two playoff games.
#16 David Matousek | Forward
DOB: 06/18/2002 | Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic | 5’11” | 170 lbs
Matousek comes back to Johnstown after signing his tender agreement before the start of the 2021-22 season. Last year he appeared in three games for the Tomahawks as an affiliated player. He would score two goals in his short stint with the Hawks. Beforehand, the left handed shot and NAPHL All Star would spend the 2021-22 season with the Philadelphia L. Flyers 18U AAA of the NAPHL 18U. Appearing in eight games, scoring two goals and two assists, as well as eight goals and two assists in six playoff games.
#17 Stephen Kyrkostas | Forward
DOB: 03/23/2001 | Long Island, New York | 5’10” | 170 lbs
The former Corpus Christi IceRays fifth round pick of 2019 returns to the NAHL with the Tomahawks in his final junior season after spending his previous year in the NCDC. The right handed shot would appear in only three games with the Islanders Hockey Club in 2020-21, tallying only one assist.
#18 Cole Bianchin | Forward
DOB: 08/23/2004 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | 5’9” | 154 lbs
The Pittsburgh native is here in Johnstown for his first go around in the NAHL. Bianchin spent the previous 2020-21 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U team. He would appear in 46 games, scoring 19 goals and tallying 15 assists.
#19 Jake Black | Forward
DOB: 03/05/2002 | Pomfret, Connecticut | 5’11” | 181 lbs
Selected 74th overall in the 2021 NAHL Supplemental Draft, Jake Black comes to Johnstown in his first year in the NAHL looking to help the Hawks out front. The right handed shot spent last season with the Islanders Hockey Club of the NCDC. Appearing in 17 games for the club, putting up 12 goals and 13 assists. As well as two assists in five playoff games. Black would also score four goals in seven games for the Northern Cyclones 18U AAA Prep.
#20 Holt Oliphant | Forward (Captain)
DOB: 05/17/2001 | Northbrook, Illinois | 5’11” | 179 lbs
Oliphant is back in Johnstown for his second year in the NAHL, as well as his final year in junior hockey. The right handed shot last year for Johnstown appeared in 53 games for the team, scoring 12 goals and 19 assists.
#21 Zachary Stoner | Defensemen
DOB: 06/13/2002 | Leesburg, Virginia | 6’1” | 179 lbs
The 2020-21 Tomahawks tender is back in 2021-22 and looking for more. Last year Stoner would appear in 10 games for the Tomahawks, tallying two assists. Beforehand, the right handed shot spent 2020-21 with the Esmark Stars 18U AAA of the NAPHL 18U. Appearing in 20 games, scoring four goals and tallying 10 assists.
#22 Jared Lambright | Defensemen
DOB: 01/13/2001 | Clifton Park, New York | 5’9” | 165 lbs
Committed to St. Lawrence University, Jared Lambright returns to the NAHL after being drafted by the Hawks in the 15th round (434 overall) of the 2021 NAHL Draft. The former Northeast General spent the 2020-21 season with the Minot Minotauros for eight games, and the Boston Advantage of the NCDC for 24 games. With Minot, Labright scored one goal and tallied one assist. With the Advantage, the speedy left handed shot would go on to tally six assists.
#23 Jacob Badal | Forward
DOB: 10/05/2001 | Flushing, Michigan | 6’1” | 201 lbs
The left handed shooter is back for his third year in the NAHL, with his final curtain call in junior hockey suiting up for the Tomahawks. The former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights stud spent the 2020-21 season with the Odessa Jackalopes and Minnesota Wilderness. He played in 14 games with Odessa, scoring five goals. He was then traded to the Minnesota Wilderness on January 2nd, 2021. Where he would appear in 36 games and score three goals and tally eight assists.
#24 Edward Pazo | Forward
DOB: 09/26/2002 | Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania | 6’3” | 194 lbs
The right handed shot comes to Johnstown for his debut season in the NAHL. Pazo spent 2020-21 in the NAPHL 18U with the Esmark Stars 18U AAA for 16 games. He would score eight goals and tally 10 assists, as well as five assists in five playoff games. He would also have a 17 games stint in high school hockey for Thomas Jefferson High. Where he would score 22 goals and 32 assists, as well as two goals and four assists in two playoff games.
#26 Myles Perry | Forward
DOB: 02/07/2002 | Whitby, Ontario | 5’11” | 180 lbs
This right handed shooter comes into the Tomahawks organization as the team's third round selection from the 2021 NAHL Entry Draft. The 19 year old’s last season of play would be the 2019-20 season, as he would miss the entire 2020-21 season. He would play the 2019-20 season in the OJHL for the North York Rangers. He would play in 53 games for the team, scoring 16 goals and 16 assists, as well as five goals and one assist in five playoff games.
#27 Mack Oliphant | Defensemen
DOB: 12/28/2002 | Northbrook, Illinois | 6’3” | 192 lbs
Mack comes into Johnstown as the younger brother to Holt Oliphant and former Maine Nordiques draft pick in 2020. He spent the 2020-21 season with the Boston Jr. Bruins of the NCDC. Where the right handed shot put up five assists in 35 games, along with one assist in six playoff games.
#28 Carson Galin | Forward
DOB: 02/02/2003 | Novi, Michigan | 5’11” | 161 lbs
The left handed shooter enters his first year with the Tomahawks and in the NAHL after spending 2020-21 in the NAPHL 18U with Meijer AAA Hockey 18U. He would score three goals and tally 10 assists in 19 games with the team.
#30 Nick Bernstein | Goaltender
DOB: 01/19/2001 | Valley View, Ohio | 5’11” | 154 lbs
Our other goaltender for the Tomahawks, as well as Evola, is in his final year of junior eligibility. Bernstein comes over from the USPHL Premier league and is set to make his NAHL season debut. Last season with the Richmond Generals, Bernstein recorded a 10-5-1 record with a 3.17 GAA and a .915 SV% in 18 games. Along with a 1-1-1 record with a 3.31 GAA and a .902 SV% in three playoff games.
#33 Liam Gross | Goaltender
DOB: 06/20/2002 | Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | 6’2” | 190 lbs
An affiliated player last year comes into this year as the team’s ninth round selection. Gross appeared in two games for the Tomahawks last season. He would finish with a perfect 2-0-0 record with a 3.00 GAA, and a .909 save percentage. Before coming to Johnstown, Gross appeared with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers 18U AAA of the NAPHL 18U for two games. He held a 1-1 record with a 1.01 GAA and a .957 save percentage. He has also appeared in eight games with La Salle College High. He held a 7-3 record with a 1.90 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
#35 Axel Langenskiold | Goaltender
DOB: 01/17/2002 | Gothenburg, Sweden | 5’10” | 170 lbs
Our fourth and final goalie on the list is entering his first year of playing in the NAHL, the United States, and the Tomahawks as well. The Swedish product spent the 2020-21 season with Frölunda HC J20 of the J20 Nationell. Appearing in five games, putting up a perfect 5-0-0 record, along with a 3.40 GAA, and a .868 SV%.
#44 Thomas DelFarno | Defensemen
DOB: 02/26/2003 | Lincoln, Rhode Island | 6’1” | 183 lbs
DelFarno was selected in this year’s NAHL Draft by the Tomahawks in round six (173rd overall). He comes to Johnstown after spending the previous 2020-21 season with Mount St. Charles Acad 18U AAA. Where the right handed shot put up three goals and three assists.
#48 Braedon Ford | Forward
DOB: 01/19/2004 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | 5’8” | 150 lbs
The right handed shot Ford comes into the Tomahawks organization after spending 2020-21 with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U team. He would appear in 44 games with the Pens, scoring 28 goals and 25 assists. He would also appear in one game with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL, only to average a minus one in his only game.
#54 Egan Schmitt | Forward
DOB: 07/05/2001 | Albany, New York | 5’11” | 170 lbs
For his final junior year, the left handed shot is here with the Tomahawks, and in the NAHL for the first time. In 2020-21, Schmitt appeared in 35 games with the Vermont Lumberjacks of the EHL. He would go on to score 20 goals and 29 assists, as well as six goals and nine assists in seven playoff games. He was named to the EHL (Overall) Second All-Star Team.
#55 Davis Chorney | Forward
DOB: 06/20/2002 | Nipawin, Saskatchewan | 6’1” | 198 lbs
Veteran of the SJHL, the right handed shooter comes to the NAHL for his first time ever with the Tomahawks logo on his chest. He spent the previous 2020-21 season with the Nipawin Hawks, tallying one assist.
#77 Johnny Ulicny | Forward
DOB: 09/30/2002 | Windsor, Ontario | 5’10” | 165 lbs
This left handed shooter comes over to the Tomahawks organization as the 81st overall selection in the 2021 NAHL Supplemental Draft. He spent his 2020-21 campaign with the Islanders Hockey Club of the NCDC. Ulicny would appear in 30 games with the team, scoring 11 goals and tallying 12 assists. He would also go on to tally two assists in five playoff games.
#81 T.J. Koufis | Forward
DOB: 07/14/2001 | Palatine, Illinois | 6’1” | 185 lbs
The third year tough guy of the league is back for his final go around in junior hockey. Before his 24 game stint with four goals and three assists in Johnstown, Koufis would start off 2020-21 with the Lone Star Brahman. The right handed shot would go on to appear in 12 games, scoring two goals and tallying one assist. Now in 2021-22, the Wisconsin commit is back in the Hawks uniform and looking to continue some unfinished business here in Johnstown.
#88 Billy Simms | Defensemen
DOB: 04/23/2001 | Plymouth, Michigan | 5’11” | 174 lbs
The third year league veteran is back in 2021-22 with his second go around in the Hawks uniform. Last year Simms would only appear in two games for the club after a broken leg would sideline him for the rest of the 2020-21 season. Now the right handed shot is back in the lineup, and looking to pick up where he left off.
#91 Sean Ramsay | Forward
DOB: 02/11/2001 | Victoria, British Columbia | 5’11” \ 170 lbs
Ramsay comes into the Tomahawks organization as the team’s first round selection in the 2021 NAHL Entry Draft. The left handed shooter is also entering his final year of junior eligibility in his first ever NAHL season. Ramsay spent the 2020-21 season in the BCHL playing for the Cowichan Valley Capitals. He would go on to score two goals and five assists in his 19 games with the club that season.
Now that the roster has officially come out, we are just now getting closer to the season opener for the 10th anniversary season. The Tomahawks kick off their 2021-22 season at the NAHL Showcase against the Robertson Cup runner-ups, the Aberdeen Wings.
